Emma Sue Wetzel McCarthy

SAVANNAH – Sue W. McCarthy, 88, widow of the late John C. McCarthy, Jr., died Saturday, March 12, 2016 at her home. A longtime resident of Savannah, Mrs. McCarthy was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was a devoted and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, and she loved life and never met a stranger. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Surviving are her children, Martha Wood, John C. McCarthy III (Megan), and Timothy Joseph McCarthy; four grandchildren, Mary Sue Fitzgerald, Patrick McCarthy, Courtney McCarthy, and Katie McCarthy; and one great-granddaughter, Emma Fitzgerald.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, March 14, Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 15, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Catholic Cemetery.

Just read your Mom's obituary and was sad to know that she had passed. Just loved her joy and she was always so glad to see Mom and I when she and Martha were out shopping. It has been a long time since we have seen any of the family, but she will always be a sweet memory of Savannah.
